Bloy announce today that their consulting arm will join ARANZ Geo Expert Services, a new team focused on applying the latest thinking to geological uncertainty. The new service brings ARANZ Geo’s knowledgeable and experienced geological consultants together, backed by the group’s innovation excellence.
Bloy, which was acquired by ARANZ Geo earlier this year, will continue to operate as a specialist company within the ARANZ Geo group. Headed by Peter Bloy, and based in George, South Africa, the team will focus on developing and growing the Blockbuster® suite.
Says Peter Bloy, “This is an exciting time for us! ARANZ Geo’s commitment to invest will enable us to accelerate product development and expand the market. We are also able to offer our consulting clients access to additional skills and services through the new Expert Services team.”
Bloy’s core consulting team will be enhanced by the long standing and trusted Australian consultancy QG (acquired by ARANZ Geo in 2014). Adding a third dimension, Leapfrog master users will also become part of Expert Services and provide advanced modelling services.
Peter continues , “The combined forces of the new Expert Services team provide a broader range of capabilities to the market, while opening up opportunities for collaboration among the team. Aligning the team closer to the ARANZ Geo group will also help ensure they are at the forefront of mining industry innovation and technology. This doesn’t mean we’ll only focus on the group’s software solutions, we will continue to utilise a broad range of software packages.”
The Expert Services team will provide consulting expertise in geology, geostatistics and geometallurgy, from exploration through to mine production and reconciliation. Services will include consulting, training, mentoring and project assistance.
Their expertise has been gained in a variety of international markets and sectors. All are geologists, with senior credentials. Team members are based near the world’s most significant mining areas and have extensive knowledge of their local areas, with many being nationals. ARANZ Geo has experts in Belo Horizonte, Christchurch, George, Johannesburg, Perth, Santiago, London, Mali and Vancouver.
Business as usual
One of Bloy’s senior resource geologist, Carrie Nicolls says, “It’s business as usual but with the opportunity to offer our clients much more. We are looking forward to collaboration and skill sharing across the wider team. The QG consultants are highly regarded and we will all benefit from this alliance.”
In South Africa, Bloy will ramp up the development of their specialist Blockbuster® grade control software. Blockbuster® is a full-featured, off-the-shelf grade control solution which manages daily updates to resource models and mine plans to provide rapid, expert evaluation of data generated from drilling, logging and geological mapping.
Says Peter Bloy, “Grade control is a greatly under-valued process in the mining industry, with small errors incrementally destroying value through dilution and ore loss. By helping our clients capture this value we improve bottom line. Blockbuster is already benefiting from being part of the group through investment, capabilities and access to its global network.”
ARANZ Geo’s Managing Director Shaun Maloney says, “We’re excited about launching an ARANZ Geo Expert Services team and achieving a more visible alignment with the group. By combining the Bloy and QG teams and backing them with the group’s innovation excellence we will be well placed to deliver best practice consulting. We believe Expert Services will deliver significant added value and provide the superior analysis that tightening market conditions demand. Meanwhile, we’re able to support Blockbuster’s growth and advancement.”
